Capacity-wise, the domestic alkaline electrolyzer market maintained 35.77GW this week, with no new capacity additions. On deliveries, Huaguang Energy delivered one 1,050 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer to the China Energy Construction Songyuan Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park (Green Hydrogen-Ammonia-Methanol Integrated) demonstration project. The equipment is reportedly a core component of the project and will undertake critical hydrogen production tasks. Mid-week last week, Central Power (Yangzhou) Hydrogen Equipment Co. successfully delivered a 1,000 Nm³/h alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production system, including a 1,000 Nm³/h electrolyzer, separation skid, purification skid, and supporting water-alkali tank. Last Wednesday, Sany Hydrogen delivered a 200 Nm³/h PEM electrolysis hydrogen refueling station customized for an Australian client. LONGi Hydrogen delivered two 1,000 Nm³/h electrolyzers to Australia, while Wolong INNERGY delivered one MW-level AEM electrolyzer (delivery destination undisclosed).

ASN Hydrogen delivered one 1,000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer to Australia, and Hypertron Hydrogen delivered one 1,000 Nm³/h unit to a green hydrogen project in Jilin. For PEM electrolyzers, HydrogenPro Energy delivered one 50 Nm³/h unit to Europe last week. As of March 20, 2025, domestic companies (including overseas deliveries) had cumulatively delivered 10MW of alkaline electrolyzers (data sourced from public information).

Regarding electrolyzer orders, as of this week, Mingyang Hydrogen won the bid for a 50 Nm³/h alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production system for the Liupanshan Laboratory. The auxiliary equipment procurement (hydrogen production system) for the third phase of Shaanxi Coal Xinyang's 2×1,000MW ultra-supercritical unit project announced Beijing Power Equipment Group as the bid winner for one 1,000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer. Additionally, LONGi Hydrogen recently signed a supply agreement with Saudi Arabia's NEOM for the world's largest single green hydrogen project, confirming at least one 2,000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer order. By April 10, 2025, at least 47 1,000 Nm³/h orders and one 2,000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer order were confirmed, including 10 units for Xingong Green Hydrogen, 16 for Sungrow Hydrogen, 12 for CRRC Zhuzhou, 8 for Sany Hydrogen, and 1 for Beijing Power Equipment Group.

I. Policy Developments

Local Policies Drive Green Hydrogen Capacity Expansion:Multiple regions introduced policies this week to support hydrogen industry development, significantly impacting the electrolyzer sector.

National Policies Guide Technological Innovation Direction:The National Energy Administration issued industry guidelines emphasizing accelerated technological innovation in electrolyzers, specifying targets for efficiency improvement, energy consumption reduction, and extended equipment lifespan.

II. Corporate Developments

Capacity Expansion Plans:Several producers of hydrogen production electrolyzers announced capacity expansion plans this week. A leading domestic electrolyzer manufacturer plans to increase its existing capacity by 50% within the next six months to meet the growing demand for market orders.

Strategic Cooperation Achieved:An energy enterprise and an electrolyzer producer have reached a strategic cooperation agreement, with both parties planning to collaborate deeply on renewable energy-based hydrogen production projects.

III. Technological Advancements

Breakthrough in New-Type AEM Electrolyzer Technology:Research institutions have announced a significant technological breakthrough in the development of a new-type anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyzer. This new electrolyzer achieves higher current density and faster response speed while maintaining low costs, resulting in an approximately 15% increase in hydrogen production efficiency compared to traditional alkaline electrolyzers.

Improvement in Key Material Performance:New progress has been made in the performance of key materials used in hydrogen production electrolyzers. A company has developed a new catalyst material that can significantly reduce the overpotential during the electrolysis of water for hydrogen production, thereby lowering energy consumption.
